Virginia Woolf' s last work Between the Acts, officially published in 1941, is unanimously regarded as a piece of work both informative and inspiring. Between the Acts, tells a story which took place in a 500 year old village in the central part of England one day in June, 1939. There are two threads of narration, the first following the story of the country squire Bartholomew Oliver' s family, and another describing the story of Miss La Trobe directing vii- lagers to perform pageant. Woolf obeys Bergson' s concept of psychological time and space, for her psychological time and space matters much more than physical time and space and she disobeys the dominating influence of the time of clock in traditional literature and compresses the complex experience of characters into one day. And time has these characters: moments ,leaps and stagnation.
