Rewriting of Headlines in Sports News: A Perspective of Appraisal Theory

本文根据评价系统理论,结合伦敦奥运会及残奥会双语对照实例,分析了奥运新闻标题在编译过程中,评价意义的增加、删减和标度不一致情况。并在此基础上,探究在编译过程中其评价意义的使用差异及改写的原因,以期对体育新闻标题的翻译提供一些参考。

Despite the growing number of translations of modem and contemporary Chinese poetry, serious and solid investigation on this topic remains scanty. This article reviews the English translations of modem and con- temporary Chinese poetry in four historical periods by first identifying the main characteristics and trends of the translations in each stage; then examining the translated poetry and the roles of the poets, translators and pub- lishers in the translation process throughout the four stages; and finally, suggesting future directions in the translation of Chinese poetry. In doing so, the authors hope to provide a preliminary data reference for subse- quent investizations of translations of modem and contemnorarv Chinese noetrv.
