The height of hydroxypropyl substitution value directly affects the quality of guar gum, so it is very important to detect the hydroxypropyl substitution value accurately. However, it is found out in the detecting process that the industrial standard and repeti- tion of testing results are very poor because of numerous influencing factors. Through the analysis on various factors of influencing testing result, like staffs, equipment, test conditions and chemical agent, testing methods are completed and improved, which reduces the errors to the minimum and thus improves the accuracy of testing result.
