Language and Non-language Capabilities Required by the Job of a Senior Interpreter

This paper points out the basic capabilities required by job of a senior interpreter i. e. those working as a simultaneous interpreter or as a consecutive interpreter in a formal conference. These abilities include the excellent language skills, namely, the excellent proficiency of mother language and the mastering of the foreign language at a quasi-mother tongue-level, and the equally important four non -language qualities. The necessary functions of these capabilities are substantiated and how to develop these capabilities is also addressed here.
