You Guai Shi Tan, which is a fiction anthology of the Ming Dynasty, has unique value both in the theory criticism and literature aspect. There are about 410 poetries and Ci in this work with poetry as its major focus, making it a typical ＂verse novel＂. This is a summary to the creation practice and canonical form about verse novel in the Ming Dynasty. It shows that the writers in the Ming Dynasty created the ideas on the novels consciously and pursued strange and entertaining aesthetic functions. The compiler makes some changes on the time and the plots of the original works. Although these changes have the intention of catering to the readers＇ psychology and interests, they improve the artistic merit of the original works in general and preserve many novels and poetries of the Ming dynasty. As a result, it has important value on literature.
