《廿二史札记》辨证一则

Textual Research of Nian Er Shi Zha Ji

赵翼在其《廿二史札记》卷十八《新旧唐书》"新旧书互异处"条中说:"卢奂治广州,有清节。旧书谓开元以来,广府清白者,惟宋璟、裴伷先、李朝隐及奂四人。新书谓朝隐、璟及奂三人。"通过阅读史书发现,裴伷先只能称得上是清白者,而不能称清节者。两书记载不同是有其依据的,并非如赵翼所言此处仅为两书互异处。

The discrepancy of contents between New Tang History Book and Old Tang History Book in Nian Er Shi Zha Ji, ZHAO Yi considered that LU Huan was a clean-handed and faithful people during governing Guangzhou. In OM Tang History Book, the author considered that SONG Jing, PEI Zhou-xian, LI Zhao-yin and LU Huan were clean-handed persons since Kaiyuan period. But the author considered that SONG Jing, LI Zhao-yin and LU Huan were clean-handed and faithful persons in New Tang History Book. By deeply reading books, I think that PEI Zhou-xian was a clean-handed persons but not a clean-handed and faithful people. The discrepancy of contents on PEI Zhou-xian between New Tang History Book and Old Tang History Book had some reasons.
