During the Republic of China period,China's film industry practitioners were mostly related to Guangdong,a homeland of numerous overseas Chinese.Guangdong's film practitioners differed from those from Ningbo,Zhejiang in purpose : the latter took films as commodities while the former took filmmaking as a cultural and educational enterprise,a social responsibility and mission.A number of actresses from Guangdong have left immortal acousto-optic images and their achievements and influence can be attributed to the open cultural environment in Guangdong which had shaped their psychology.
