Cognitive linguistics is a rising linguistic school or a new research approach.Of so many topics for cognitive linguistics Prototype Theory,Conceptual Metaphor,Figure-ground segregation,image schema are the focus in recent years' research.Conceptual Metaphor and Figure-ground segregation in this article are applied to illustrate senses of a common English word "spot".
