The Study and Reception of Matthew Arnold's Poetry in China

早在20世纪初,马修.阿诺德的诗歌就已经被介绍到中国。在一个多世纪的时间内,国内阿诺德诗歌的翻译与传播、教学与研究,潮起潮落,经历了三个阶段。诗歌创作期是阿诺德文化思想的萌芽期。在面向现代化的社会转型期,他的文化思想凸显出重要价值,对其诗歌的研究也进入了文化研究的新阶段。进入21世纪,国内阿诺德诗歌研究再次呈现出方兴未艾的热潮。

In the early 20th century, Matthew Arnold＇ s poems were translated and introduced to China. In the past century, with ebbs and flows, the study and reception of Matthew＇ s poetry has gone through three stages. His poetry serves as the budding phase for his cultural thought. During the transitiona period towards modernization, his cultural thought has gradually showed its value, and his poetry has been entering a new era of cultural studies. The very beginning of the 21st century has witnessed a new surge in the research on Matthew Arnold＇ s poetry.
