20世纪30年代的中国现代传记文学创作,在繁荣的表象下面临本土经典的缺失、传记理念纠缠之困境。经过诸多学者和传记作家艰辛的理论探讨和创作实践,此期的传记文学在传记体例、传主描写和审美标准等方面取得了令人瞩目的突破,显示出旺盛的生命力。
