Seattle's vision of an urban food oasis1 is going forward. A seven-acre plot of land inthe city's Beacon Hill neighborhood will beplanted with hundreds of different kinds of edibles2: walnut3 and chestnut4 trees; blueberry and raspberry5 bushes; fruit trees, including apples and pears; exotics6 like pineapple, yuzu citrus7, guavas, persimmons9, honeyberries, and lingonberriesl~; herbs11; and more. All will be available for public plucking12 to anyone who wanders into the city's first food forest.
