逻辑功能视角下《怅诗》及其英译研究

The Study of Pathos and Its English Version from the Perspective of Logical Function

在翻译实践中把高度意合的诗词翻译成重形合的英语并非易事,前者重行文意义上的连贯,后者注重形式上的接应。意合与形合的巨大差异决定了汉诗英译时逻辑连接功能的重要性。基于此,文章拟从语篇逻辑功能出发,对杜牧《怅诗》及其英译本中的逻辑连接进行研究,探讨在逻辑功能的理论框架下英译本的得失。研究发现逻辑功能可以解释从意合向形合转换过程中的一些问题,特别是从隐性逻辑关系到显性逻辑连接词的翻译,更有效地传递了诗的意境。

In translation practices, it is not an easy job to translate highly Paratactic poems into English which lays great importance on Hypostasis. The former stresses the cohesion of words, but the latter pays more attention to the form. The large difference between Parataxis and Hypostasis decides the significance of Logical Function on translating Chinese poems into EngliSh. Therefore, based on the perspective of Logic Metafunction, this paper conducts a contrastive analysis between Du Mu＇ s Pathos and its English version, discussing the gain and loss of the English version under the framework of Logical Function. The study finds that the Logical Function can explain some questions in the process of translating from Parataxis to Hypotaxis. Especially the translation from implied connective words to explicit connective words effectively transfers the artistic beauty of poems.
