According to Polanyi＇s theory, this paper will discuss the implications of English learning in the light of tacit knowledge. From the relationship between subsidiary awareness and focus awareness, it puts emphasis on the relationship between ＂a whole＂ and ＂parts＂ in English learning and makes the central status of the knower and the triad of tacit knowledge outstanding in order to provide a new perspective for English learners and research inspiration.
