In the light of the closely linked feature between the bamboo culture and the Chinese nation development history,this article approaches the ornamental value of bamboos and their application in the ancient gardens,expounds the extremely important role of bamboos in the Chinese gardens for a long time,analyzes their present situation and developmental prospects,and puts forward that the bamboo species with the ornamental value should be energetically developed to use for the greening in urban and rural areas.
