Diversity of the Important Protected Mammals in Hunan Province

为了促进湖南省野生动物保护和管理工作 ,让外界了解湖南省重点保护兽类资源现状 ,作者根据自己 1986年以来野外考察和教学实习记录 ,并认真查阅有关文献、资料 ,对湖南省重点保护兽类种类、分布等作一系统性的报道 .湖南省现有野生兽类 82种 ,其中国家一、二级保护动物分别有 4种和 18种 ,以猕猴、黑熊、水鹿、河麂、鬣羚资源较丰富 .省地方重点保护动物有 14种 ,以华南兔、银星竹鼠、黄鼬、果子狸等资源丰富 .东洋界种类明显占优势 .报道了每种兽类分布 。

To improve the wildlife conservation and management in Hunan Province, according to the results of our own wildlife investigations since 1986 and by collecting related information, the species, distribution and resources state of the important protected mammals in Hunan Province are systematically reported. 82 wild species of mammalia have been found in Hunan up to now. Among them, 4 and 18 species belong respectively to the first and second ranked protected wildlife of national importance of China, and Macaca mulatta, Selenarctos thibetanus,Cervus unicolor,Hydropotes i.inermis and Capricornis sumatraensis argyrochaetes are relatively rich in the resources. 4 species belonging to the first-ranked protected category are Neofelis nebulosa, Panthera pardus, Panthera tigris amoyensis, Lipotes vexillifer respectively.14 species of mammalia belong to the regional important protected wildlife of Hunan Province. Among them, Lepus sinensis, Rhizomys pruinosus, Mustela sibirica,Paguma larvata et al are obviously rich in the resources. Every species' distribution is briefly discussed, These mammals mainly inhabit in the important mountainous and hilly forest regions, especially in natural reserves. At last, the conservation measures for mammal resources are suggested in order to promote the work of biodiversity conservation of Hunan Province.
