This paper presents a case history of the application of Cone Penetration Test （CPT） in the geotechnical investigation of a large oil storage tank farm in loess soils. The details of stratigraphy, bearing capacity of soil foundations, and the axial ca- pacity of single piles are also introduced in the paper. Finally, both advantages and the disadvantages of applying the CPT in lo ess soils are discussed in the paper.
