摘要
20世纪西方哲学与文论的语言学转向确立了语言的本体地位,一些理论家从语言角度来探究主体性的真相。奥斯特在小说《玻璃城》中,通过作家奎恩对斯迪尔曼一案的侦查研究以及他自身身份的嬗变,具体探讨了语言与主体性之间的关系,指出两者经历了三个阶段的发展变化:语言是透明的表征工具,人是绝对的理性主体;语言是独立的本体存在,主体性是语言的建构;语言是无确定意义的能指游戏,主体性不复存在。奥斯特以讲故事的方式形象地诠释了西方哲学与文论对语言与主体性的认识发展历程。
The linguistic turn of Western philosophy and literary theories in the 20th century establishes the ontological status of language.Some theorists explore the truth of subjectivity from the perspective of language.In City of Glass,Auster studies the relationship between language and subjectivity through Quinn's detecting process and his changing identity,and points out that the relationship undergoes three stages: language is a transparent tool and man is an absolute subject;language is an independent system and man is a linguistic construction;language is a meaningless game of signifier and man's subjectivity disappears.By telling stories,Auster exhibits the change in the western understanding of language and subjectivity.
