Nazi's Haunting Influence——A Social Sihouette of the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1950s Reflected in the Novel Halbzeit

The Denazification Movement pursued by the occupying power was not thoroughly implemented in the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1950s, so many Nazi high officials, who had ever worked for the Nazis, began to wield the political and financial power again. Through analyzing the novel Halbzeit by the German writer Martin Walser, this essay reveals the way in which the Nazi survivals and the Nazi ideology do harm to the German society. With rich descriptions of characters, the novel shows the living conditions and innermost feelings of the Nazi survivals hiding in different walks of life.
