摘要
本文旨在以书中的四个次要人物为切入点,探讨奈保尔如何借题发挥,在篇幅不长的《游击队员》中表现:身份、流亡、归属、边缘人、政治腐败、疯癫、新殖民主义等贯穿奈保尔之前作品的重要主题,揭示刚刚摆脱殖民统治、获得独立的国家所面临的困境。
Though not long or complex, Naipaul＇ s Guerrillas is rich and profound in themes. By analyzing four minor characters in the novel, one will find many oft-repeated themes in Naipaul＇ s other novels, such as identity; exile, sense of belonging, periphery, corruption, madness, neo-colonialism, etc. Thus, in Guerrillas, Naipaul tries to reveal the cruel reality faced by the newly independent post-colonial country.
