词义和语义的空缺是不同语言之间的词语或词义的非对应现象。以汉语中国的"花"和英语中的"flower"为例,通过查阅词典中的词条释义发现英汉两种语言词汇含义有对等义项,但在多数情况下存在语义空缺现象。

Word-meaning vacancy is the non-correspondences between the two languages. Taking the ＂hna＂ in Chinese and ＂flower＂ in English for an example, by looking up the relating entries in dictionaries, the author found that there exist equiva-lents and meaning vacancy as well of the two words between the two different languages.
