The Birth of American Higher Dance Education at the Beginning of the Twentieth Century

本文意在研究政府政策的支持、教育目标的明晰以及"学分制"和"选修制"等现代高等教育制度的采纳,对于20世纪初美国高等舞蹈教育的发生所产生的决定性影响,进而探讨发展舞蹈教育所必需的外因与内因,并希望能为迅速崛起的中国高等舞蹈教育提供参考与借鉴。

This paper focus on the decisive influences of support of the government＇ s policy, clear goals of the education and acceptance of the modern higher education system represented by the “Credit System” and the “Elective Course System” on the birth of American higher dance education. Hopefully, this discussion will help clarify the internal and external causes for the development of dance education, and eventually provide references and models for the fast developing Chinese higher dance education.
