The Lijin Agencies and the Towns in the Southern Jiangsu Province during Late Qing Dynasty

晚清苏南市镇研究,成果甚丰,但于市镇总体格局,缺乏全面系统的考察。除少数大城市外,一般市镇难以确定其经济地位。苏南地区的厘卡严格根据城镇商业地区的重要性及其商路设置,可以反映苏南主要市镇的经济地位。本文根据清代有关厘金史料,探讨了晚清苏南地区的市镇结构、商路情况以及民间银钱使用比例的情况。

There are many researches on the towns in southern Jiangsu province but absent overall research on its distribution and structure.Besides some of larger cities,most towns in this area,we couldn't certain their economic status and connection with each other.The Linjin agencies and tax standard amount established according to a town's economic importance and on the commercial roads,from witch,we can know some main towns' economic importance,commercial roads,the proportion of the silver money and copper cash used by the merchants during late Qing dynasty.
