Corpus, Cognition and Causative Constructions by Gilquin, resorting to both the BNC and elicitation da-ta, discusses English causative constructions from a cognitive perspective. It explains the concept of causative con-structions, elaborates on the data collection procedures and analyzes the data via both corpus-driven and corpus-tested methods, and explores the possibilities of applying the results to foreign language teaching. This paper intro-duces this book and comments on its merits and demerits as well.
