On New Intensionalism

针对传统内涵主义面临的困境与受到的批评,卡茨凭借语言学中分解语义学的资源,并且借助涵义仲裁指称的论题,给出了新内涵主义这样一种研究进路。他试图借助这种方式重新定义涵义概念,以此恢复对于语言研究的内涵主义进路,并重新开启我们谈论必然性与先天性概念的道路。

Confronting with the problems of traditional intensionalism, Katz developed a new intcnsionalism which consists of the decomposi- tional semantics and the thesis ＇ sense mediates reference＇. With the new approach to defining concepts in the theory of meaning, Katz tried to revive the intensionaI approach to linguistic study and facilitate our research into necessity and apriority.
