The pioneer of Chinese cotton textile industry in 20th century——China's cotton industry expert WU Wei-jing and his students

吴味经是我国近代著名棉业纺织专家,棉花等级划分的奠基人。他改良棉种,发展农村经济,棉铁救国,培育人才。抗战期间,向西南后方抢购棉花、纱布,动员50万农村妇女开展手工纺织。将中国纺织建设公司完整地交给人民政府,支援了解放战争和抗美援朝战争。开发研究多种纺织原料,受到周恩来总理接见。他和自己培养的学生,共同将一生贡献给了中国的棉花、纺织事业。

Abstraet：WU Wei-jing is the famous cotton textile expert, and the founder of the cotton classification in modern China. He modified cotton seed, developed the rural economy, saved the nation by cotton and iron industry, and nurtured talent. In Anti-Japanese War period,he snapped cotton and gauze to the rear southwest,and mobilized 50 million rural women to develop hand-weaving. He handed over the China Textile Devel- opment Corporation to the people＇s government completely, and supported the liberation war and the Korean War. He is received by the late Premi- er ZHOU En-lai because of developing a variety of textile materials. He and his students contribute their lives to China＇s cotton textile industry.
