Fang Dong-shu's Study on Tao Yuanming's Poems

方东树的陶诗研究在陶渊明诗歌研究史上具有重要地位。他继承前人旧说,指出陶诗兼综儒道的特点,却认为失之于庄老;结合情、景、理对陶诗创作手法的分析,也丰富了前人对陶诗创作特点的认识。他把陶诗风格的自然平淡改为自然清深,是对前人见解的进一步发展。对陶诗用意和用笔特点也作了细致的分析,较前人研究更为具体翔实。体现了其诗学思想中的儒学道统观念及以"义理"为本位的诗学旨趣。

The study of Tao＇s poem by Fang Dongshu is very important in the history of studying Tao＇s poems. He inherited preceding scholars＇ ideas,pointing out that Tao＇s poem combined Confucianism with Taoism and correcting their one-sided views. Fang referred to emotions,scenes and reasons to analyze the writing techniques of Tao＇s poems, which also enriched the preceding scholars＇ understanding of the crea- tion characteristics of Tao＇s poems.He changed the natural wateriness of Tao＇s poems to natural deep- ness and clearness,which is a further development of predecessors＇ opinion. A detailed analysis was also made of the characteristics of emotional expression , which was more specific and detailed than the prede- cessors. It reflects the Confucian orthodoxy and its concepts in his poetics based on ＂moral principles＂.
