本文从汉语"但是"、"不过"和英语"but"的句法特征、语法意义和语用功能三个角度出发,对比了汉英语连词在句法分布、词语搭配和语气强弱等方面的差异,探讨了它们在互译时的常用方法和存在的问题,并分析了其中的原因。

The paper summarizes the difference between Chinese conjunctions and English ones on syntactic distribution, collocation and tone from the angles of syntactic feature, grammatical meaning and pragmatic function. It also probes the questions about the ways of translation among Chinese dànshi; búguò and English but and analyses the reasons in them.
