摘要
本文选取话语标记语I mean,对中国学习者英语语料库(COLSEC)和英国国家语料库(BNC)中的数据进行对比分析,以研究和发现中国英语学习者与英语本族者口语中I mean的使用特点和分布规律的异同。研究结果表明:与英语本族语者相比,中国学习者话语标记语I mean的使用频率明显低于英语本族语使用者;中国学习者在句子中间位置使用I mean较多,而将之用于句首的情况则较少;中国英语学习者过度使用I mean的信息修正功能。语用迁移、语用石化以及语言熟练程度低是造成这些差异的主要原因。
Selecting the discourse marker 'I mean',this paper makes a comparative analysis of the corpora about it from COLSEC and BNC with the aim of exploring the similarities and differences in oral distribution and use of 'I mean' between Chinese EFL learners and native speakers.The research shows that: Chinese EFL learners,compared with native speakers,tend to underuse 'I mean';Chinese EFL learners underuse it in the turn-initial position but overuse it in the turn-medial position;Chinese EFL learners overuse 'I mean' as a marker of self-repair.Pragmatic transfer,pragmatic fossilization,and inadequate English proficiency are the main factors contributing to the misuse of 'I mean'.
