在楚国的重要出土文献《郭店楚简》中通篇体现了楚国民本思想。主要归纳了以"民为君心"为核心的思想,主张统治者应率先以身作则;强调只有人道才可作为导民之道;圣德之人以德教民等楚国民生思想内涵。

Guodian Bamboo Slips is an important unearthed literature for Chu culture, which embodies the ideological of civilian-orientedness of Chu. In it, the thoughts ＂civilian-focused＂ as the core thinking was summarized. It also advocated that rulers should set a good example for the people, only humane can be the guide to the people, holiness ruler guide the people with virtue, etc, which are all the connotation of civilian- oriented thoughts in the state of Chu.
