Brian K. Kobilka, the 2012 Noble Laureate for Chemistry, has served as a visiting professor in Tsinghua University since April, 2012. In January, he gave a speech at Tsinghua University, and shared his research experience. What difficulties does he encounter in his research? According to Kobilka, a great difficulty came when he lost subsidization from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. 'Never give up,' he suggested his Tsinghua students. He prefers students who are interested in his research, because interest helps one survive a host of difficulties.
