谈汉语修辞格的可译性限度——以《红楼梦》的两种英译本为例

On the Limit of Translatability of Chinese Rhetorical Devices——In the Case of Two English Translations of Hong Lou Meng

可译性限度是翻译中不可避免的问题。文章对《红楼梦》两种英译本中的汉语修辞格翻译进行了对比研究,认为翻译工作者只有深入了解各种语言文化的不同特点,提高自身素质,才能缩小这种限度。

The existence of the limit of translatability is an unavoidable problem in translation.In this paper the authors analyzes two versions of English translations of some Chinese rhetorical devices in Hong Lou Meng,and comes to the conclusion that in order to solve this problem the translator should make a thorough study of the characteristics of different languages and cultures.
