Global economic center is moving to Asia, which will affect the demand for ships and shipping lines. Natural gas and oil prices are expected to decouple, shale gas development is likely to increase the supply of natural gas. With the developing trend including the above factors, DNV has released the shipping report of 2020. President Tor Svensen of DNV Maritime and Oil & Gas expressed that at present the global economy is stillfragile, not only financial analysts, bankers and policymakers want to know the development of the world in the next 10 years, but shipping industry presents the same question. Although the risk is very big to predict the future, we still want to share our shipping point of view of 2020 or even after 2020 as well as the adoption of technology development, hoping to stimulate the industry to discuss them and help to make correct decisions. According to the market development, regulatory changes, fuel prices, the cost and availability of new technology as well as the specific requirements of the shipowners, the report adopted the research method of situational type, which has achieved the best effect o discussing the relevant environmental protection technologies and also meet the requirements of them. In the report, DNV assessed the development of four possible scenarios in the future and through the simulation model, forecast the technology adopted by the global fleet to 2020.
