略论玄应的训诂实践

On the Exegesis Practice of Xuanying

玄应是唐代的训诂大家,其所作音义叫做《玄应音义》,是佛家音义类著作当中最早的一部。玄应通晓梵汉双语,在注音释义的过程中,传播了佛学理念和儒学思想。可以从《玄应音义》的注音、正字、释义、注释佛语词、引文等几方面展开论述玄应的训诂方法,揭示玄应在训诂学史上的地位,最后指出《玄应音义》的些微不足。

Xuanying is a famous interpreter of the Tang Dynasty, whose work Xuanying Yinyi is the earliest among the Buddhist works on pronunciation and meaning. Xuanying has a good command of both Chinese and Sanskrit, so he also spreads the Buddhist concept and Confucianism in the process of interpretation. The paper discusses Xuanying＇s interpretation methods from the aspects of the phonetic notation, wording, meaning, Buddha notes, quotation of Xuanying Yinyi, reveals his status in the history of exegetics, and finally points out few weak points of XuanyingYinyi.
