A Comparative Study of Tibetan and Chinese Versions of Buddhist Records of the Western World

通过《大唐西域记》藏汉文版本对照研究后发现:公.工布查布在藏译本中如实地翻译了《大唐西域记》138国的情况,将藏译本的总体结构作了一些调整,采用藏文数字表明所记述国家的顺序,并对许多寺名、塔名以及地名、山水名进行了注释性的补译,给后世研究留下了弥足珍贵的资料。

Through a comparative study of Tibetan and Chinese versions of Buddhist Records of the Western World, the writer finds out that Mgon-po-skyabs, the Tibetan translator, in his faithful translation of 138 countries, made some change of the general structure in the Tibetan version, such as using Tibetan numbers to arrange the order of the countries and making notes and supplementary translations for the names of temples, pagodas, places, mountains and rivers, which provide precious materials for later studies.
