On Sichuan’s Bizarre Master Liu Shiliang’s Individual Character and Writing Style

刘师亮以一介平民的身份挑战黑暗的社会现实,笑骂当局,嘲弄军阀劣绅,警醒民众,在谐文、竹枝词、楹联等多种文体的创作上都有明显的突破,其创作风格诙谐辛辣,独树一帜。刘师亮的谐文很少写人的行动,纯为对话,较之参军戏,戏剧性有所淡化,讽刺性则大大强化了。他的竹枝词,多有体恤民生之作,内容广泛深刻,尤其是他的讽刺之作,词锋犀利又诙谐有趣,在竹枝词的发展史上占有突出的地位。刘师亮的楹联以刺世讥邪为主,他的讥刺锋芒不但指向黑暗腐败的社会现实,而且直接指向从财主劣绅、地方军阀、政府首脑等具体对象。他不仅惯于运用容易产生讽刺效果的通俗甚至俚俗的语言作联,而且运用拆词、双关、夸张、戏拟、映衬、象声词等多种修辞手段制造讽刺效果。

Liu Shiliang challenges the dark social reality as an o^dinary citizen, scoffs the authorities, mocks warlords and evil gentry and alerts people, who has a significant breakthrough on the creation of scherzo, Zhuzhi ci and couplets. His writing style is witty, biting and unique. Liu Shiliang rarely writes action in his scherzo, instead he uses pure dialogue, so the drama dilutes and irony greatly strengthens than army- joining drama. His Zhuzhici compassionates livelihood for the masses with wide and deep contents, espe- cially his satirical works which are sharp and witty and occupies a prominent position in the development of the history of the Zhuzhici poetry. Liu Shi Liang＇s couplets mainly satirize the social reality. His derision edge not only points to the dark and decadent social reality, but also directly point to some specific objects ranging from the rich men, the evil gentries, the local warlords, to the heads of government. Not only popular even vulgar language often is used, the demolition of the words, pun, hyperbole, parody, contrast and onomatopoeia, etc. are also used to obtain the ironic effect.
