The paper introduces the structure features and working principle of a crane without reducer.A motor with slow revolution speed and high torque is used for drives of lifting mechanism,trolley travelling mechanism,and crane travelling mechanism.The motor is provided with not only the soft start,but also functions of deceleration,and friction braking,and with supporting frequency converter,its braking speed and braking torque features large adjustable range.Any impacts appearing at start and stop can be significantly reduced.Such motor has a good development prospect when being applied to cranes.
