法律英语作为专门用途英语(ESP)的一种,教学上要遵循专门用途英语教学的一般规律。明确法律英语的概念,厘清法律英语和普通英语的相似与不同,对于确立法律英语人才的培养目标、培养模式具有基础性的作用。法律英语教学在强调法律知识传授的同时,不能忽视对学生英语专业技能与素质的培养。法律英语人才是懂法律的英语人才而不是懂英语的法律人才,这是法律英语人才培养的立足点和出发点。

Legal English, as one of ESP branches, is obliged to adhere to the teaching principles of ESP. Proper understanding of the concept of Legal English and the differences between Legal English and General English sets the foundation to establish the cultivation objectives and working patterns of Legal English. While in teaching students relative knowledge in laws, Legal English shoulders the cultivation of English skills and qualities for the students as its first job. Legal English professionals major in English but not in law, which is the stand-and-start point of Legal English.
