晨本义指辰星,引申指早晨的时间。晨字的构形,反映了上古时期先民"日出而作,日入而息"的生活,晨也是农业社会所产生的一个概念,同时也是先民关注天文现象的结晶。现代汉字的晨,是先民所造的两个晨字中的一个经过省形而来的。

Chinese character Chen （晨） originally meant stars, but extended to the morning time. Its configuration reflects the working - from - dawn - to - dusk lifestyle of the ancient ancestors. This character was born in an agricultural society, and was generalized from the astronomical observation process as well. The current character is further simplified from one of the two ancient words.
