Relations between Ancient Yunnan and its Neighboring Areas

古代云南与周边地区的关系,蕴含云南省政区的形成、云南与邻省的关系及云南与邻邦的关系等项内容。云南与周边地区构成相对完整的自然地理单元,但云南省政区的形成、云南与周边地区关系的演变乃至基本定型,却主要是受政治、经济、社会等诸多因素影响的结果。在这些因素中,最值得重视的是历朝治边的方略和治策、云南地区的地缘政治关系与云南的内外交通线。

The relations between ancient Yunnan and its neighboring areas were related to the forma- tion of the provincial administrative zone, its relations with the neighboring provinces and neighboring countries. In the perspective of natural geography, Yunnan had its fairly clear boundary but the for- mation of its provincial administrative zone as well as its relations with the neighboring areas was un- der the influence of political, socio-economic economic and other factors, among which the crucial ones were the borderland-management policies and strategies of different dynasties, its geographical political relations and communication lines.
