罗斯“以色列小说”中的犹太教传统思想解读

Analysis of Jewish Traditional Thoughts in Philip Roth's Israel Fiction

《反生活》和《夏洛克行动》是罗斯的两部以以色列为创作背景的小说。尽管作者在小说中表现对以色列政治争端的思考、对犹太人生存现状及其所面临的矛盾和冲突的关注与立场时,有不少是对犹太人的批判,但结合犹太传统文化、宗教思想分析解读小说中特殊历史文化现象以及二者之间的关系内涵,可以看出《反生活》和《夏洛克行动》中所蕴涵的犹太民族的权力观及救赎观等宗教传统思想,这反映了罗斯作为一个犹太裔作家不可避免所受到的犹太民族传统文化的影响,同时也成为罗斯犹太性中一个重要的方面。

With Israel as the story setting, Philip Roth has manifested in his two Israel novels The Counterlife and Operation Shy- lock his reflection on Israeli political disputes, his concern with the living situation of Jews and the conflicts in various aspects they are facing. Though he more often than not depicts his people critically, however, through close critical reading and analysis of some particular historical events and their relationship with Jewish traditional cultural and religious thoughts in these two Israel novels, it could be revealed that Roth has been inevitably influenced by the Jewish traditional thoughts, which also constitutes an important aspect of his Jewishness.
