平行语料库辅助翻译实践实证研究

An Empirical Study on Translation Practice with Parallel Corpus as an Aid

鉴于目前国内同类研究采用的样本过少,使用的工具过于简陋,该研究基于词数超过70万的英汉双语平行语料库,并且使用专业的平行语料库检索工具ParaCon进行检索。实验翻译原文取自某地方政府工作报告的一段,实验组的参考资料为作者创建的汉英政府工作报告平行语料库。实验采用90min限时翻译的形式,对收集的多项数据进行统计学检验处理。基于数据的统计分析,得出结论:在目前的条件下,平行语料库难以提高翻译教学中翻译实践的工作效率,尤其是那些过于依赖频繁查询语料库的学习者,但平行语料库可以提高翻译质量。

The author attempts to test the effect of using parallel corpus to aid translation practice by an ex- periment. This study is based on a Chinese--English parallel corpus over 700,000 words, with the assistant of a specially designed concordancer for bilingual searching, due to the insufficient bilingual text samples and the less specialized searching tools used in the previous researches. The Chinese source text for this translation experiment is a passage from a Chinese local government work report and the parallel corpus which is used as a reference aid for the experimental group is a Chinese-- English Parallel Corpus of Government Work Report compiled by the author. Both of the two groups of subjects are required to finish the translation in 90 minutes. Data collected are calculated and analyzed after the experiment. The author argues that under current circumstance, it is very difficult for one to raise his translation production by using a parallel corpus as a translation aid, especially for learners who tend to search the corpus too often. In addition, the experiment verifies the belief that parallel corpus can improve translation quality.
