Objective To understand the characteristics and patterns of dermatosis among the troops in low temperature region. Methods An investigation of dermatosis occurrence was performed in 2010 among recruits in Jilin, on levels starting from the primary hygiene teams, the division hospital, to the regional hospital. Results In a total of 368 dermatosis cases occurred among the troops in the low temperature region in 2010, the incidence rate was 29.82%. Soldiers from the South carried out a higher dermatosis incidence of 34.95 % than those from the North of 25% (P〈0.01). Recruits' dermatosis incidence was higher than the veterans. Conclusion Chilblain, chap in hands and foot, multiformity-erythema were frequently seen, and they were also determined by soldiers' hometown and length of service. It suggests that the low temperature resistance lxaining be required for recruits, especially those from the south in order to reduce incidence of dermatosis.
