The Historic Process of Protestant Missionaries Congress in Late Qing Dynasty and Their Influence: New Perspective of Exploring the Rising of Church Universities in China

从19世纪70年代到20世纪初曾召开五次新教传教士代表大会,即1877年、1890年和1907年上海第一次、第二次、第三次在华新教传教士代表大会以及1888年伦敦世界新教传教士代表大会和1910年爱丁堡世界新教传教士代表大会。上述大会围绕中国教会高等教育及教会大学的建设和发展问题展开了广泛而深入的讨论,并在此基础上逐渐形成了若干共识,这些讨论和共识对中国教会大学的兴起及其最终格局的形成产生了深远的影响。

Five Protestant Missionaries Congresses had been held from the 1870s to the early part of the 20th century.The first three Congresses were held in Shanghai in 1877,1890 and 1907;the following were held in London in1888 and in Edinburgh in 1910,which were named the World Protestant Missionaries Congresses.In the above Congresses,the construction and development of Church Universities in China were explored extensively and deeply.Some common view was reached based on the discussion,which caused the rising of church universities in China and influenced their development process.
