The Chief Plotter of Song Jiaoren's Assassination Was Difficult to Ascertain

研究宋教仁被刺案,要坚持疑罪从无、无罪推定的原则。缺乏确凿证据,就不能认为赵秉钧或袁世凯是刺杀宋教仁的主谋;纵然有些问题没有搞清,也只能存疑,不能作为定论。如果此后发掘不出新的有力证据,刺杀宋教仁究竟是如赵秉钧所说,"去宋之动机起于应(桂馨)之自动","洪(述祖)假政府名义诳诱应犯"进行,抑或洪述祖奉赵秉钧、袁世凯之命,就永远是个难解的谜了。

It should adhere to the principle of 'suspected crime follows no punishment' and the 'no guilty follows innocence', when we study on Song Jiaoren's assassination. If there was lack of conclusive evidence, Zhao Bingjun or Yuan Shi-kai couldn't be considered as the Chief Plotter. Even if some issues were not distinct, we can only doubt but not make a conclusion. If there's no new evidence to be discovered, Song Jiaoren's assassination will always be a difficult puzzle.
