Veegum which is also called hectorte is a special kind of rare minerals only found in and exploited in California. Its commercial products Veegum and magnabrite have been sold all over the world and they occupy a unique international market and their economic return are great now, this kind of montmorilloint has also been found in Yushugou, Tuokexun county of Xinjiang, China. This paper introduces the basic concept of Veegum,the process of its formation,characteristic and the outline its exploitation and application.
