既要做传统的维护者．又要做艺术的创造者”是林邦德对当代艺术家的定义，也是这件带有”港城”文化气息的水墨作品创作的初衷。著名艺术批评家、清华大学美术学院教授、博士研究生导师岛子对林邦德三件作品有如是评价：
As an associate professor in fine art of Ningbo University, Lin Bangde is also a fruitful member in the ChineseAssociation of Calligraphers. His work The Ship Terminal was so different from its kind by mixing several art forms. First of all, it printed the English words 'CALLIGPADHY' and 'MADE IN CHINA' in blue on the corrugated carton, as the background of main part. Then, on the surface of the box it wrote the poems in cursive style, including Hemudu Bone Whistle, Tianyi Collections of Books, and Tiantong Temple. Finally, the work was completed by two stamps 'Made in China' and 'Ningbo originating'.
