刘坤一与清末教育改革

Liu Kunyi and the Educational Reform in the Late Years of the Qing Dynasty

刘坤一是清末重要地方高级官员 ,在晚清政坛中有着举足轻重的地位。作为后期洋务派主要成员之一 ,刘坤一在教育方面提出一系列的改革建议和主张 ,并积极付诸实践。他主张改革科举制度 ;设文武堂以培养人才 ;主张“中学宜兼西学” ;奖励游学 ;鼓励私人办学等。这些主张对清末教育改革产生了积极影响 ,其中有些对今天仍具有借鉴意义。

An important Local official in the late period of the Qing Dynasty,Liu Kunyi played an important role in the political forum.As one of the main participant in the Reform Movement in its late stage,Liu Kunyi put forward a series of reformative suggestions and ideas in the field of education and positively put them into practice.He held that the civilian service examination should be reformed,that school should be established for training military and civilian talents,that the Eastern-style education should be combined with Westen-style education,that Chinese education should be combined with Westen-style education,that Chinese students should study overseas,that private schools should be allowed by the Government,and so on.These reformative ideas exerted a positive influence upon education in the late years of the Qing Dynasty and some of these ideas are still noteworthy even in present days.
