摘要 On October 8, 2012 the Shandong Longli Biotechnology LLC has delivered to market the second-generation cellulosic fuel ethanol from corncob, making itself the first in Shandong and unique producer of the second generation cellulosic ethanol with a ethanol production capacity of 60 kt/a. On October 8, 2012 the Shandong Longli Biotechnology LLC has delivered to market the second-generation cellu- losic fuel ethanol from corncob, making itself the first in Shandong and unique producer of the second generation cellulosic ethanol with a ethanol production capacity of 60 kt/a. The cellulosic ethanol unit can use as its feedstock the residue of corncob and corn stalks after extraction of functional saccharide. According to a rough estimation, the Longli Biotechnology LLC can annually consume more than 200 thousand tons of corncob to manufacturethe said amount of cellulosic ethanol, while saving about 60 thousand tons of gasoline and 200 thousand tons of corn to bring about to the farmers an incremental income of more than 100 RMB per mu (1 mu=1/15 hectare). It is estimated that China is able to manufacture annually 18 million tons of non-grain based ethanol from cassava, sugar cane, sweet potato, and sweet sorghum, and also can produce at a low cost around 50-70 Mt/a of second- generation cellulosic ethanol from corncob, corn stalks, wheat straw, rice straw and rice hull to unleash enormous potential.
