Information redundancy is an important component of information theory and is taken by experts and scholars at home and abroad as a key perspective for translation studies.Cultural information redundancy,as one type of information redundancy,is a common problem in simultaneous interpreting practice,causing serious troubles for interpreters.Focusing on the cultural information redundancy in simultaneous interpreting,this paper,from the angle of functionalism,attempts to analyze factors behind cultural information redundancy and corresponding solutions.
