木材学课程是林业学科的,是一门涉及生物化学、结构力学、表面物理化学和材料科学等多门学科、理论性和实用性都非常强的课程。通过这门课程的教学,可以使木材科学与工程及林产化学与工程专业相关的大学专科学生获得木材材性最基本的理论、知识和技能,提高科研能力和学术水平,为今后学习制材学、木材干燥、家具和木制品、木工机械、人造板工艺和木材保护与改性等课程奠定基础。因此本课程在专科教学中具有举足轻重的作用,也是各高等林业院校专科生十分重视的课程。
